Increasing Stakeholders Engagement with the Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) in Bwari Area Council, Abuja

As part of efforts to contribute to improving access to justice for women and girls in Nigeria and in particular victims/survivors of sexual violence, this one-day stakeholder meeting was organized on Dec. 15th, 2020, to rally critical stakeholders in Bwari Area Council, FCT, and sensitize them on steps for engagement with the Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) on the provision of sexual assault response services.

 

In partnership with the FCT Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Response Team (FCT SGBVRT) and with support from the EU funded Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption (ROLAC) Programme implemented by the British Council the stakeholders meeting brought together health workers, Women Ward Leaders, Traditional and Religious Leaders, Chairpersons of GBV Community Surveillance Teams in the Area Council, Social Workers, the Police, National Orientation Agency, National Union of Teachers, Community Based Organizations and other community stakeholders.
